Petersburg can be a dangerous place, though Iceland
can be dangerous too if you step in front of a
runaway cement truck. Crime is worse here than in
most other large European cities, but it's still not
like Naples or Lahti, and it's no more polluted than
Bombay, Katowice, or Los Angeles. Petersburg is home
to nearly five million people and all the problems of
big cities everywhere can be found here. There's no
need to be extra paranoid, but it helps to be aware.
